Midwife in Hamburg

About Me

I am originally from the UK and over the years I have had the privilege of working with many international and expat families.

I aim to provide my clients with confidence in navigating the maternity system in Germany as I understand it can be tricky and sometimes overwhelming.

I run monthly birth preparation classes and an introduction to breastfeeding class, as well as tailor-made and bespoke private classes according to individual needs.

I chose to become a midwife because I was drawn to the unique combination of scientific/ medical expertise and personal connection that this profession offers.

After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery in Lower Saxony in 2020, I started working as a freelance midwife in Hamburg and spent five years as part of the Amandastraße midwifery practice.

Today, when I’m not cycling between home visits across the city, I’m happy to welcome families to my cosy practice room in St. Pauli. What I love most about my work is its variety: every day is different, every family and every baby unique.

I work collaboratively and solution‑focused, finding individual paths that fit each family’s life and needs. My care is grounded in evidence based research, helping you make informed decisions that feel right for you and your family no matter what your background or experience.

Pregnancy care

Throughout each trimester of pregnancy I offer regular consultations in my cosy practice room in St Pauli.

I can advise you on a wide range of topics, answer your questions and provide you with guidance and consistency.

I can also provide checkups on the development of the pregnancy in combination with your gynecologist upon request.

Postpartum care

For my postpartum clients I provide regular home visits in the first two to three months according to the standard german model.

My goals are to support you in your recovery and regeneration after the birth, to help with breastfeeding, and with getting to know and care for your new baby – how they are developing, sleeping, growing and adapting to their new environment.

My postpartum services are paid for by your health insurer.

Birth Preparation / Antenatal Classes

These classes run over 4 weeks, on Wednesday evenings and take 2.5 hours. They are held online and are designed for pregnant people plus their partner.

In our classes I am aware that not everybody has experience of the maternity health system, so I try and make sure the participants are informed and up-to-date with how things work here in a practical way

I use lots of visual aids and a sense of humour to help you prepare for the most unique experience of a lifetime - the birth of your child.

Networking is so important, and I encourage my participants to stay in touch with each other and form long-lasting bonds.
